Growing up on the Essex-Suffolk border, I spent my childhood in Constable country. I have been drawing ever since I can remember and painting in oils since the age of 18. I continued to paint throughout my History degree at the University of Warwick and then during my career in advertising. After a decade working in London, I made the decision to train as a professional artist.
From 2013 to 2015 I studied at Charles H. Cecil Studios in Florence, Italy. My training was based on drawing and painting from life, using the centuries-old sight-size technique. I am most inspired by Dutch Golden Age and British 18th Century painting. Although portraiture is currently my focus, I retain an interest in still life and landscape painting.
