The Boundary Gallery @Highgate Contemporary Art

Once again the Boundary Gallery collection returns to Highgate!

The gallery always had a focus on key artists of the Modern British School including David Bomberg, Horace Brodzky, Jacob Epstein, Jacob Kramer, Alfred Wolmark. There is a new group, active between 1950 – 2014, such as Josef Herman and Morris Kestelman- both of whose estates the gallery is handling. Peter Prendegast, Maurice Cockrill also belong to this group. The Gallery prides itself as leading expert in Jewish Artists most of whom, or whose parents, originated in Eastern Europe. With their energy, drive and uncompromising attitude they achieved the highest possible standard in their work. Most had come from very humble beginnings, but they all became prominent artists during the 20th century in this country.

The other area of activity is promoting the works by living artists : David Breuer-Weil, Davina Jackson and Neil MacPherson. The works shown are figurative with strong composition, with something to say, good draughtsmanship and a brilliant palette. These are qualities in which the Boundary Gallery firmly believes.

The Boundary Gallery operated as a gallery for twenty five years before its closure in September 2011. It is actively continuing its activities through art fairs and online, concentrating on two schools of painting: Modern British and Contemporary. Its owner, Agi Katz, was curator of the Ben Uri Collection for six years and ran their gallery in central London. There she organised some remarkable exhibitions including a Jacob Epstein Centenary exhibition , a retrospective of Mark Gertler, a show of David Bomberg, Bomberg and his Family as well as a touring show of Jacob Kramer.Museums that have purchased from the Boundary gallery include the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Milwaukee City Gallery, the British Museum, Imperial War Museum in London, Ferens Art Gallery in Hull, Israel Museum in Jerusalem, Jewish Museum in New York.

Agi Katz, the gallery’s founder, is available for consultancy and valuation and welcomes enquiries from collectors or estates within the Modern British.

The gallery undertakes restoration, framing and lends works on consignment.
