Shirin Tabeshfar

Iranian British painter exploring order and chaos through rigorous yet poetic abstraction

London based Iranian British artist Shirin Tabeshfar’s practice is rooted in the tension between structure and spontaneity. Born in Tehran and educated at the Behzad School of Fine Art before continuing her studies in the UK, she brings together symbolism, spirituality and an enduring sense of time within her paintings.

Her canvases are often divided, layered and reworked, balancing disciplined composition with expressive gesture. Years of careful research have led her towards a radical simplification of form. Subjects are distilled almost to the point of disappearance, leaving behind an abstract language that feels both controlled and intuitive. Lines travel across the surface without obvious centre or edge, creating continuous compositions that hold the eye in quiet suspension.

As art historian Afsaneh H S Djavadi has observed, her work retains an innate freshness, unfolding as a form of silent poetry.

Available Work

Tabeshfar has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, with solo and group presentations in Chelsea, Galerie 27 Concept in Paris, Galerie du Cygne in St Tropez, Josie Eastwood Fine Art, Kamil Gallery in Monte Carlo and at The Royal College of Art. Her work has also been included in Magic of Persia exhibitions held at Christie’s in Monaco and Bonhams in Los Angeles.

Across each exhibition, her paintings continue to investigate the dialogue between order and chaos, inviting viewers into immersive fields of line and gesture where abstraction becomes both contemplative and quietly powerful within an interior space.
