The Flowers We Gathered is a new collection of floral paintings by Hannah Ivory Baker, bringing together intimate miniatures, small works and one larger, anchoring painting.

Made in oils with palette knives and broad brushes, the works move between recognition and abstraction. Roses and gathered stems emerge through layered, heavily worked surfaces, sometimes clearly described and sometimes beginning to dissolve back into paint.

Across the collection, the flowers shift in mood from pale and quiet to darker and more atmospheric. The larger title painting holds the collection’s fullest sense of abundance, while the smaller works offer quieter, more intimate encounters with flowers, memory and paint.

Though modest in scale, the miniatures retain the movement, texture and physicality of Hannah’s larger paintings. Each one becomes a small gathering in itself: of colour, gesture and the fleeting, unruly beauty of flowers brought indoors.
